Binding format and presentation notes:

  • All issues to May 1903 (‘Anubis’) bound together in an old cloth vol. (front board detached; outer spine attached to rear cover but loose from underlying spine; heavy wear to outer corners of boards) with the original separate pictorial issue front covers bound in at the rear, immediately preceded by two bound-in original advertising slips for the present title, one under the name ‘Anubis’, the other advertising the expected April 1902 issue but under the name of the forerunner to Anubis, ‘The Occult News and Review’. (All leaves to p. 150 detached from remainder of vol. but bound to each other.) Vol. commences with [2 leaves] + [pp. v-viii] (index). Original small advertising flyer by a company called Watchtower, 117 Adams St., Brooklyn, N. Y., laid in loose (chipped at some corner margins).
  • All issues from June to Dec. 1903 (‘Out of the Silence’) bound together in a matching old cloth vol. (front board connected to vol. title page but detached from remainder of vol.; separation down rear hinge; slight chipping to top of front hinge; heavy wear to upper outer corners of boards; wear to lower outer corner of rear board) with original separate pictorial issue front covers and lastly one original rear cover (backed with advertisements) bound in at the rear, followed by an original publisher’s slip drawing attention to a poem on p. 161, presumed extracted from the Oct. 1903 issue. Vol. commences with frontis. illustration labelled ‘Anubis’.
