[0] The first half of this book is an index to things defined by William Lilly in his Christian Astrology as being ruled by or associated with particular planets, signs or houses, with reference to the relevant page numbers in the original 1647 edition. This is followed by what appear to be Labouré’s own prose-form notes on the influences of the houses and planets, including the outer planets

[1] With separate t.p. to [p. 347]: “The Grammar of Astrology, Containing All Things Necessary for Calculating a Nativitity. By Zadkiel. Dedicated to the University of Cambridge. – New Edition”. With separate t.p. to [p. 493]: “Tables to be Used in Calculating Nativities; Comprising Tables of Declination, Right Ascension, Ascensional Difference, and Polar Elevation; also, Tables of Houses for London and Liverpool – Computed by Zadkiel, Author of the “Grammar of Astrology”

[2] The first combined edition thus. It would be reprinted many times. See for example the two printings below.

[3] Only the advertisements on the front and rear paste-downs have been retained in this copy but there is evidence that further pages of advertisements have been torn out, suggesting that a complete copy might be expected to collate the same as the 1860 reprint

[4] One of many reprints by Bell after it took over the edition from Bohn in the later 19th century

[5] It is evident from this design as well as the advertising for Bohn’s Libraries editions at the end of the volume that the Bohn’s Libraries brand was retained by the new publisher Bell long after it took over this title

[6] Internal evidence shows the date of publication to be not later than 1944 and most probably before 1941, which is referred to as though it is a future year; estimated late 1930s to early 1940s

[7] This appears to be the original book-form edition, pre-dating the undated Macoy Publishing reprint, q. v. below

[7a] Worldcat records suggest a 1960s reprint. A note to the reverse of the title page reads: ‘The material in this book appeared as part of a series of Students [sic] Lessons in The American Astrology Magazine from December 1946 to April 1949’

[8] DNB records give 1950

[9] The date of the original edition is given as 1971. It is stated as havingbeen first published in Great Britain by Frederick Müller Ltd. of London that year, and then in the same year by Barnes & Noble in the New York, so this is the second U.S. printing.

[10] The main text of this little book is written by Linebaugh, but George has added his own resumé of each of the chapters, typically amounting to an addition of 50% to the original text. The content can be categorised as New Thought / self-help. It is not astrological, but provides valuable insight to Llewellyn George’s broader interests, beliefs and publishing interests

[11] After the first printing of 1984

[12] Stated First Printing, 1992; but this is clearly a later-issue as evidenced by the Unibind.com binding. Was purchased new from the A.F.A. in the early 2000s and probably printed and bound in the late 1990s

[13] A translation of the work above from the original French

[14] A bound photocopy-based reprint of the dissertation first published 1978

[15] The text is not continuous, suggesting that p. 88 is missing, though there is no blank to account for the dropped page

[16] From available evidence it would appear that parts A1-6 collectively (as featured here) formed only the first six parts of a longer correspondence course. A correspondence course of 25 lessons was advertised by the author in the back of her ‘Method of Rectification’ (q. v., below) in 1947. That is most probably the course referred to by the original copyright date of 1946 given here

[17] Copyrighted 1946. But the present publication of parts A1-A6 is professionally printed and would appear likely to consist of the author’s own revised reprint of the first six lessons from her original correspondence course, if not a progressive development or aggregation of them. Based on nternal refernces on leaf 4 of A3 and leaf 8 of A6 advising students that they will require the Rosicrucian Ephemeris for the year 1970, I firmly estimate the present version of the text to date from 1970

[23] The chart blanks have been only partly filled in, with birth data for the examples from Bessie Lispenard’s course, but without the corresponding astrological placements having been written in. The question sheet has been filled in by its former owner, an E. Wayne LeRoy of 647 Ash Street, Denver, Colo., on Oct. 20, 1973

[24] A series of texts and studies directed by Fernand van Steenberghen, professor at the university of Louvain.

[24a] After the previous editions of 1967 and 1968, according to the earlier copyright dates shown

[25] The date of the original printing is given as 1967, but the copyright is dated to 1971

[25a] After the first of July 1968

[25b] A series of publications collectively edited at this time by Michael Lapidge, Gabriella Corona, Mechthild Gretsch, Richard Marsden and Andy Orchard

[25c] A print-on-demand publication; this copy purchased new in 2021

[25d] Translated from the original Italian manuscript

[25e] A series of publications edited by David I. Owen (Cornell University), supported by a team of nine international scholars

[26] An edition, French translation of, and commentary upon, a Sinhalese manuscript poem said to have been based on the much longer, prose-form Sanskrit text of the Mayamata, which originates frou South India. I have not been able to ascertain the date of composition of the Sinhalese Mayamata from the editor’s introduction
