[1] This book is essentially non-astrological but has a most interesting introduction on the subject of clairvoyant dreaming. The main content is an extensive dream symbol dictionary written along considerably more fatalistic lines than later psychoanalytical dream guides. The zodiac makes a cameo appearance as a dream symbol, interpreted in five different ways, on p. 617

[2] Thus, a collective project – no overall editor is named

[3] Essentially a pictorial bibliographical catalogue of the Renaissance-era books related to astrologers and astrology held by the Biblioteca Casanatense. In all, 154 books are listed, many of them supported by select illustrations. Quite a few are primarily astronomical, but a good number of astrological works also features

[4] The central characters of the surname of the recipient are hard to decipher. A separate signature appearing to read ‘Alan Camion’ to the front paste-down would appear to belong to the original owner of this copy of the book and object of the author’s handwritten dedication

[5] Leaf 71 is blank in this copy, which may be a binder’s mistake

[6] Here there seems to be one leaf missing that was never bound in to this copy

[7] Only the New Jersey address is given in full although it appears second in the credit list on the title page: 100 Joyce Kilmer Avenue, Piscataway, N. J. 08854.

[8] The text is copyrighted 1999, this being presumed the date of the original printing

[9] A biographical sketch of W. H. Chaney

[10] Recent facsimile reprint of original edition “Published by William Wight, at his Theological Library, Cheltenham; Sold in London by Hamilton, Adams, and Co. and James Nisbet, and Co., 1838”

[11] A series of publications credited to Astrological Research Associates, 444 Sixth Avenue, New York 11, New York, a group part-founded by Jayne, who remained the President at the time of publication. It had later been joined by Moore, according to Jayne’s foreword

[12] These pages are part of a section of anecdotes about successful blind readings and predictions made by astrologers such as Margaret Hone and Caroll Righter. The survey of astrologers around which this book is centred begins on p. 81 and is unaffected

[13] Title to spine of cloth vol. is instead ‘Jacqueline Onassis’. It would appear there was an earlier issue of the title under the name ‘An Astroanalysis of Jacqueline Onassis’ with a dust jacket also bearing this title

[14] Rudhyar is specifically credited on the dj front cover but not on the internal title page of the book

[15] Page headed: “These blank pages are for notes” but empty of content, followed by four altogether unmarked blanks

[16] “with assistance in compilation from Tim Browning”

[17] A compendium of computerised horoscope, aspect grid and midpoint print-outs for 158 countries, without any individual commentary or analysis. Each print-out is printed at right-angles to the lie of the book, and spread over two facing pages. The print-outs are preceded by a fourteen-page essay by the late Moore, offering theoretical guidelines for the interpretation of mundane horoscopes. This volume was the earlier of two books bearing the shortened form of its title, the other being by Nicholas Campion, q. v.
