[1] A facsimile reprint, issued early-mid 2000s, of the original first edition bearing the imprint: “Printed by S. G. and B. G for Obad.Blagrave at the Printing Press in Little Britain, London, 1671. The pagination for the 1671 edition is very erratic, with 48 page numbers being unallocated, so that the nominally 187-page total of the main part of the book is really 139. This was corrected for the second edition, as shown above

[2] With separate title-page at p. 185: “Blagrave’s Introduction to Astrology. The Second Part. Shewing The Manner and Use of ELections as they are constituted on the twelve Celestial Houses, with plain and familiar Instructions for chusing of times proper and convenient for the undertaking and performance of any business or matter whatsoever, according to the Author’s many years Practice and Experience” (same publication details but undated). With separate title-page at p. 219: “Blagrave’s Introduction to Astrology. The Third Part. Of Nativities. Shewing By New and Experienced Rules how to rectifie and judge a Nativity: also the natural signification and Portents of Directions; and how the time of any Accident or Alteration may be known, with plain and Familiar Examples thereupon. Also The true way of gaining the Revolutional Figure, and how to give judgment thereupon with the Significations and Use of Transits, and how the particular Accidents of each Day may be found’ (same publication details)

[3] A simplified primer of natal astrology limited to single-paragraph delineations for Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn signs, tables for finding them, and advertising for the whiskeys and gin produced by the publishing company

[4] It is not clear why the first internal page is numbered 5, but it seems likely that an initial leaf containing a key to the numbered delineations for the astrological Sun is missing from this copy and would have been numbered pp. 3-4 if present.

[5] This printing is said to have been made in just 100 copies, after the first printing of March 2002, stated as having comprised 1000 copies; the second of June, 2005 (500 copies) and the third of July 2009 (100 copies), giving a total print run of 1700 copies by this time. It is also evident from the text that this, or possibly the previous printing of July 2009, was revised from earlier ones, since Blaschke discusses his initial cancer diagnosis and follow-up consultations in 2006-7 in the text

[6] A slip added over the top changes the address to Pasadena, California

[7] Ibid.

[8] After the declared “first Wingbow Press edition” of June 1987, second of January 1988, third of January 1991, fourth of January 1992, fifth of January 1993, sixth of January 1994, seventh of October 1994, and eighth of November 1995. The front cover of this printing bears the legend “Revised Edition”, but it is not apparent with which printing the revision occurrred. I can find no evidence of any edition by a previous publisher prior to 1987

[9] A series directed by Wolfgang Kemp, Gert Mattenklott, Monika Wagner and Martin Warnke

[10] This copy was sold without its original dust-jacket at a reduced price some years after the volume went out of print

[11] The core of this volume is a catalogue of medieval manuscripts to the year 1200 that contain representations of the constellations in 68 different libraries (pp. 179-566). Seven chapters of related studies and short essays precede this

[12] This volume is given over entirely to reproductions of select illustrations from the manuscripts catalogued in the first one. In all, 77 illustrations are reproduced in colour, and 1005 in monochrome

[13] The contents of this first volume from pp. 13-143 are a series of historical essays in German. The remaining contents of this volume are an annotated catalogue of the first 67 manuscripts (of 145 featured in the work as a whole) from the period 1200-1500 that depict the constellations

[14] The contents of this second volume from pp. 553-953 are the continuation and conclusion of the annotated catalogue of constellation-depicting manuscripts, comprising manuscripts 68-145 inclusive. A bibliography and several indices conclude the volume

[15] The contents of this third and final volume are meticulously labelled illustrations depicting the constellations that have been reproduced from the manuscripts catalogued in the first and second volumes. In all, 135 colour illustrations and 1259 monochrome illustrations are featured, thanks to many pages containing multiple illustrations
