[1] Swiss library records estimate a broad range of 1930-1950. Yet it cannot predate 1941, in view of an internal literary reference to an edition of “Wiederholte Erdenleben” by Emil Bock published by Urachhaus, Stuttgart, which appeared in 1941 (the earlier edition of 1932 was by another publisher in Stuttgart). There is also a reference to a work by Philipp Schmidt entitled “Christliche Sterndeutung”, yet no reference to this can be found in German library records. The earliest book by Philipp Schmidt on astrology is “Sind Sterne Schicksalskünder” (1933); but he was still active writing about astrology into the early 1950s. My best guess at dating this work by Ebertin would be early-mid 1940s based on the poor production quality being a product of limitations imposed by the war.

[1a] This edition extents to the same final pagination as that of 1981 (q. v. above), but the internal section title pages are padded out by blank pages to their reverse sides. It is not immediately clear whether cuts have been made or the text has simply been reset

[2] The full title as represented on the internal title page. On the front cover, ‘durch Planetenstunden und Tattwas’ is replaced by ‘Tattwas und Planetenstuden’, and there is no mention of ‘(Astrologie ohne Mathematik)’.

[3] No library records found for any edition

[4] After the first English edition of 1973, copyrighted by Ebertin-Verlag

[5] OCLC records 1939

[6] Copyrighted 1953, but this seems quite likely to be a 1960s or 1970s reprint in view of the late edition number

[7] Confusingly, the copyright is attributed to Regulus-Verlag, Görlitz, at this date; and the entire series under the present name is also credited to that publisher on the advertisement to the inside of the rear cover. Yet both the title page and the front cover credit the work to Ebertin-Verlag, Erfurt. German library records credit it to Regulus-Verlag, Görlitz. The possibility must be considered that the present copy could be from a slightly later printing falsely retaining the 2. Auflage label of the 1933 one

[8] After the first edition of 1928, which was published by Regulus-Bücher according to DNB records

[9] The foreword is dated Juni 1932, and the DNB record agrees. The original edition was published in 1931; and the present one retains this copyright date

[10] A collection of ten essays by several different astrologers including Karl-Ernst Krafft, Dr. med. Georg Lomer, Reinhold Ebertin, Elsbeth Ebertin, and Dr. Walter Koch. According to the 1950 Ebertin Kosmologisches Jahrbuch, this compilation was counted retrospectively as the 23. Jahrbuch, 1940. But since it was given a standalone name and identity at the time of publication, I have listed it in the books section

[11] DNB records 1939

[12] This perplexing author attribution, not the surname of any indivdual, is explained in the foreword. The work is described as an adaptation of the earlier work in the 1920s of Elsbeth Ebertin and an astrologer referred to here as Georg Hoffmann (chiefly “Sternenwandel und Weltgeschehen”, q. v., although note that Hoffmann used the initial L. in that instance) with additional examples by Reinhold Ebertin. Walter Koch is also credited with numerous improvements in the foreword, although he does not get an official author credit

[12a] After the original edition of 1969, q. v. above

[12b] An English translation of the original German edition “Die Bedeutung der Fixsterne”, q. v. above

[13] Confusingly, while Banks is credited as the translator on the title page, Linda Kratzsch is credited as the translator on the copyright page. Since Kratzsch is not mentioned in the 1971 edition, q. v. above, it is presumed that the copyright page is incorrect in this instance, and that this was a carry-over from the equivalent page on other AFA editions of Ebertin translations for which Kratzsch’s services really had been employed

[14] An English translation of the original German edition “Die Bedeutung der Fixsterne”, q. v. above

[15] After the first English edition is of 1971, q. v. above, and second of 1973

[16] A print-on-demand facsimile-based reprint, issued March 2009, of the original dissertation

[17] I have not yet been able to paginate this because it remains shrink-wrapped within temporary card end-supports awaiting binding

[17a] A wide-ranging scholarly review of ancient magic, divination, astrology and alchemy. Chapter 8, comprising pp. 236-268, is dedicated to the consideration of ancient astrology

[17b] In spite of the different title, this is billed internally as just a reset revision of the Llewellyn edition known as Astrological Crosses in Relationships and published in 2002, q. v. below

[18] A re-arranged, expanded edition of Ego (1997) above

[19] Dated 1998; but this relates to the 1st impression

[20] Large parts of the book are printed with lined space in the margins alongside the text, designed for the reader’s own notes. Pages 61-5 contain much lined space integrated into their main columns. This copy has been left studiously unmarked

[20a] Appears to be a critical, sceptical set of potted biographies of Apollonius of  Tyana, Paracelsus, Nostradamus, Athanasius Kircher, Cagliostro, David Ferdinand Koreff, Helena Petrona Blavatsky, Aleister Crowley, Erik Jan Hanussen, and Paramahansa Yogananda

[20b] Said to be a reprint of a limited ‘lead type’ edition, whose date is not given

[21] On the dj front flap he is given as Robert Eisler, Ph.D, D.Sc., D.Litt; but on the title page the honours are omitted

[22] The full address details are not present on the title page but are given in the advertising on the rear dj cover

[23] This plate is not on plate-paper and seemingly not counted in the headline ’16 plates’, but is a full-page illustration with a blank to the reverse just like the others
