[1] Appears most likely to be a custom binding of notes taken and retyped by a student or assistant in one of his classes whose initials were V. B. P.. Whether they were typed from a direct audio recording of the lectures or just from the student’s own handwritten notes taken in class is not clear. But the student seems to have done a remarkably thorough job of replicating Hall’s lectures in the latter case. The typing does not appear to be in facsimile, and is presumed original

[2] No overall date is apparent. For the individual parts that carry dates, those dates have been shown

[3] The front board is labelled E-212 K in print

[4] Illustration is entitled “Astrology is the Clock of Destiny”, and stated as having been compiled in Los Angeles, Feb. 1927, by James Lippincott (presumably the publisher), with an article “The Truth About Astrology” printed to the reverse side

[5] A pictorial map of the constellations entitled “Religion of the Stars Constellation Chart”, published by the Church of Light, Los Angeles, undated

[6] Signed in typescript with Hall’s name. It would appear to be a piece he wrote for an Evangeline Adams yearbook

[7] Enigmatically signed in the same typescript “The Silent Partner”

[8] This is an official separate publication, professionally printed, with text in dual columns, and bound in large-format paper covers, with staples through inner margins. (The front and rear covers have a few small edge tears.)

[8a] This Indian publication is not transparent about the publishing history of the work, but it would seem certain to be a reprint of material first published in the United States, and is likely to be a chapter from The Collected Works of Manly P. Hall Vol. 2, Sages and Seers, as published by the Philosophical  Research Society in 1959

[9] This edition copyrighted 1985, but this is clearly a much later printing of it, since it references the P.R.S. website

[10] Copyrighted 1971, but this copy is almost certainly an undeclared later reprint

[11] The date of the first edition is given as 1937

[11a] Stated as being the transcript, edited by the author, of a recording of a lecture delivered by the author at The Town-Hall Metaphysical Library, San Francisco, May, 1950

[12] Despite the claims of enlargement, in page count this fourth edition is almost identical to the first. The dates of the second and third editions are given as 1943 and 1959 respectively.

[13] NB: a non-astrological analysis that happens to have made its way into this collection

[14] The main part of this work suggests herbal remedies and supplementary vitamin and cell salt prescriptions for the sun signs. There is also a substantial section on Sun sign compatibility. The volume closes with a couple of general essays on mental and emotional-health topics

[15] Not in Worldcat; guessed early 1980s

[15a] After the original edition thus of 1980, itself translated from the Dutch original entitled ‘Psyche en astrologisch symbool’, published by W. N. Schors, Amsterdam, 1978

[15b] Translated from the Dutch original entitled ’Aard en Achtergrond van de Huizen’, published by W. N. Schors, Inc., 1981

[15c] After the original Dutch edition entitled ‘Elementen en Kruizen als Basis van de Horoscoop: Deel 1, De Astrologische Duiding, published by W. N. Schors, Amsterdam, 1979

[15d] Translated from the Dutch original entitled ’Aard en Achtergrond van de Huizen’, published by W. N. Schors, Inc., 1981

[15e] A retitled reprint of ‘Astro-Psychology’, q. v.

[16] A presentation of a method of life-phase analysis seemingly based on sun degree area, with 120 groups of birthdays rounded up to represent three-degree intervals of solar degree, each group being assigned years when their lives will supposedly be in one of eight phases as part of a 13-16 year cycle that seems to based on half a Saturn cycle. The phase indications for male and female subjects are differentiated
