[1] A later printing of the above. As with the original edition, it is stated first published 1921; and no other date is present in this copy; but in view of the present printing being stated the 21st-30th thousand, this date is suspect. In fact, the details of this edition correspond to one held by the DNB and dated to 1924, which appears credible and can be presumed correct. The DNB considers it the second overall edition of the work after the one listed above

[2] Authorship of this work has been attributed by a former owner in an inked note on the title page to Lothar Schilde, q. v. below.

[3] It is not clear on what basis the 14. Auflage appellation rests. The DNB has only this edition and an unnumbered one, and ascribes publication of both to 1925

[4] Internal book advertisements indicate a timeframe of 1971-2

[5] This part of the title appears only on the front cover, and not on the internal title page

[6] No library records could be found; but one of the titles advertised within is dated by library records to 1950, which would appear a good approximation to the likely date of this one. The advertising does not include publications in the Astrologische Universal-Harmonien series, instead focusing on more popular-level titles, several of which are not listed in library records

[7] Said to be a “Lehrbrief aus der Zeitschrift Welten über uns, Lindenverlag Ottobrunn”. The publication in question is said to be edited by D. Zurlinden – i. e. Dorothea Zurlinden, q. v.; but the identity of the author of this article is not specified, and might or might not be her

[8] Presumed from internal references to have been published in early 1962 or late 1961

[9] It has been headlined “Tables of Houses” by hand in ink

[10] Not in German library records. Presumed mid-late 1930s or possibly early 1940s

[11] Translated from the Portugese translation of A.M. Alfonso-Goldfarb and S.A.C. Jubran, entitled Livro do Tesauro de Alexandre, Um estudo de hermética árabe na oficina da historia da ciencia, as published by Petropolis, Brazil, in 1999. The Portugese translation is said to have been made directly from three Arabic manuscripts. The original book is said to have been written in Greek and Latin before being translated into Arabic after its discovery in the 9th century in the city of Amuria

[12] A pseudonym for Heinrich Tränker, according to a previous owner’s laid-in note

[13] A previous owner’s laid-in note suggests circa 1924. DNB records give 1925. It is a revision of the anonymous work first published by Ebner in Ulm in 1853 under the slightly shorter title: “Die Enthüllung des menschlichen Lebens, oder neues vollständiges Geburtsstundenbuch, nach welchem die Schicksale eines jeden Menschen, dessen Geburtsstunde man genau kennt, im Voraus bestimmt werden können”. The 1853 edition extends to 160 main pages according to German library records

[14] There are no firm records of date in library records for this edition, which is not held by the DNB. Swiss Library records enigmatically record “1910 / 1919”, but whether this is a range of possible dates or a firm declaration that the edition is from 1919 is unclear. Since the third edition was published in 1920 and the first in 1910, a dating of 1919 would be somewhat surprisingly close to that of the third edition and distant from that of the second

[15] DNB records give 1920 for this edition

[16] An anonymous 19th century German author

[17] The character that looks like a ‘2’ is difficult to interpret owing to the gothic script. Its function appears to be to represent ‘et’ as in ‘etc.’, but I have not seen this orthographic form elsewhere

[18] Seems to be a revision of the first edition thus of 1852, which was published by Ebner, Ulm, according to library records. The 1852 edition is reported to have 340 pages, but this one has 352. There are lists of the most important eclipses from 1862 to 1930 in the present edition, which could date it to any time in that period. The lunar eclipse table may hold a clue. Until 1899, total lunar eclipses are expressly marked thus. After that year, none is, suggesting a lack of confident knowledge of which eclipses will be total in dates beyond 1899. This would strongly suggest that publication was in the late 19th century. What relation the 1852 edition in itself had to Sebastian Brenner’s 16th century “Groß Planeten-Buch” other than by way of inspiration is not entirely clear. He is not named as the author here, but the implication of the title would be a major revision of his work

[19] A series of publications collectively edited by Heinrich Kündig, Zürich

[20] After the original edition published by Routledge & Kegan Paul in 1976

[22] To this title is prefixed, on the front cover, but not on the inner title page, ‘Something to Read and’. The publication is notable for its charming illustrations. The contents cover a broad range of divinatory topics, and include one four-page chapter on the Sun signs.

[23] The University of London open-endedly proposes a 20th century date. From the appearance and from the other items it survived with, I would narrow this down to no later than the 1910s and quite possibly earlier

[24] Presumed early-mid 20th century
