Bookshop Working Again – 7th April 2025

Dear all,

Further to the announcement made a few days ago (appended below), the bookshop is now working again. Our web support team has found that a database had become corrupted, resulting in the shopping cart breaking. This has now been fixed, and it should be possible to use the shop as normal as of 16:00 British Summer Time, April 7th 2025.

ARCHIVED MESSAGE BELOW (NO LONGER APPLICABLE):

I’ve been advised by a prospective book customer this evening that the shopping basket on the Astrolearn Bookshop is failing to register items added to it. I was able to replicate this in testing. It therefore appears to be impossible to purchase any books currently.

I have immediately referred this issue to my elder brother, whose agency handles IT support for the shop. Please do not attempt to purchase physical books through the shop until this message is updated or superseded, because the system appears to have temporarily broken for reasons unknown.

The last successful order was on March 4th. It seems possible therefore that this issue has been ongoing for a few weeks now. My apologies if anyone else has attempted to purchase anything over the past month and suffered the same issue.

Your patience as my brother’s agency investigates this and seeks to find what has caused it will be much appreciated.

The separate digital downloads store is unaffected by this issue as it runs on a different technology.
