New History of Astrology Book Published April 17th, 2025
I’m pleased to report that the long-awaited first volume in the series of my collected essays and lectures on the history of astrology has finally been published today, April 17th, 2025, exactly 44 calendar months since the original contract for a longer single volume was signed with the publisher on August 17th, 2021.
By mutual agreement with the publisher, early last year the proposed format for the work was changed from one long volume to three of more moderate length, collectively forming a series known as Graves’s Studies in the History of Astrology. A shorter fourth volume is now expected to follow.
The first of the projected volumes is now in press. It is called Technical and Planetary Developments in Astrology, and comprises eight extended essays and lectures originally dating from 2014 to 2021. Updates and corrections have been made since the original essays were written, chiefly in the final editing process, which took place in the latter months of 2024.
The ISBN of the book is 9781947544796. Please ask your local bookshop to stock it, if you are interested. Alternatively, it is immediately available from multiple different national Amazon outlets, or, which might make more economic sense for buyers in the USA, direct from the publisher, whose page for the book is here:

That page also details the full table of contents for this first volume.
I shall be looking to acquire my own limited supply of stocks of the book in due course so that I can directly sell the occasional copy to friends and colleagues in the community or through the Astrolearn website, but I do not yet know the procedure for this, so if you would prefer to order from me directly, please await further announcements on this, although I would suggest that this is unlikely to make economic sense for those outside the UK as a result of international shipping costs, unless as part of a larger order of books such as ones from the Astrolearn second-hand shop, or unless you plan to visit the UK in conference season, in which case I could probably hand over a copy in person.
