The true first edition, not to be confused with the David McKay reprint.

Publisher’s original full brown cloth in vgc- condition, with crease down centre of spine, minor chipping to foot of front spine hinge, and moderate rubbing to parts of extremities of spine; only minimal rubbing to outer corners of boards. Gilt titling to spine faded but still legible. A few small stains to spine as pictured. A few tiny stains to closed outer and bottom edges of page block. Endpapers partly browned. Old plain-pencilled bookseller notes to upper margin of ffep (erasable). Otherwise an unmarked copy, with occasional hints of marginal foxing. Externally vgc-; internally near-fine. Overall, a very good copy of the sought-after true first edition.
