hb Fankhauser, Dr. Alfred Das Wahre Gesicht der Astrologie 2nd Orell Füssli Verlag, Zürich / Leipzig 1943 £3.50 260pp. After the first edition of 1932. Original full black cloth in near-fine condition, professionally laminated in clear plastic film, which is itself lightly chipped from top and tail of spine and extremities of flap-folds, but there is no wear visible to the underlying cloth. Tiny hand-inked price to front paste-down. Paper hinge before title page lightly cracked, and an old clear-tape repair there has failed. If buyer requests, I’ll repair this hinge with Tyvek self-adhesive pH-neutral book hinge repair tape before shipping, which would also cover over the tape residue from the failed former repair. Some studious finely handwritten annotations to lower margins, which appear to be mostly in plain pencil, although a few in black ink. Charts to pp. 86, 91, 172 with added red-pencilled astrological glyphs to margins. One word to p. 107 underlined in red pencil; three words to p. 126; four words to p. 131 (plus three numbers ringed); five words each to pp. 147 and 179; one line each to pp. 121 and 163; and 2 lines to p. 165; number ringed in red pencil to p. 132. No other markings or faults found. Clearly a carefully studied copy, which remains serviceable.
