It was available in both hardback and paperback formats, of which this is the higher-quality hardback Original dark maroon cloth in near-fine condition, with minimal rubbing to a few extremities and a few minor hints of staining to boards. Gilt titling and emblem to spine remain strong and bright. In near-fine glossy dj, which has minor hints of staining to upper margin of front panel; light rubbing to tops of flap-folds; paper residue from removed former label towards lower margin of rear panel; tiny 3mm closed tear to top of rear panel. Front paste-down internally slightly creased, presumed at the time of original book manufacture; rear paste-down has tiny paper loss from outer edge. Ffep with faded plain-pencilled bookseller notes to upper outer margin. Rear free endpaper with tiny trace of staining to part of outer margin.
