424pp. The first issue of the definitive edition, greatly expanded from the first edition of 1925, which had only just over 300 pages.

Original full illustrated cloth in good- condition, with internal fraying to both spine hinges, otherwise sound. The inner paper hinges remain strong, with just a couple of minor partial splits towards the foot of the front one, beneath which the webbing is intact. Top edge of page block retains its original deep blue dye. Ffep with plain-pencilled bookseller notes. Endpapers lightly foxed; and occasional traces of marginal foxing within, mostly confined to lower outer margins. Faint plain-pencilled mark-up to four of the charts at the back, but no permanent internal markings or faults found. Externally good-; internally very good. Overall, a good+ copy of this sought-after edition.
