The fragile spine paper is chipped to parts of the head and foot of the spine. The remains of a mostly removed label are visible to the lower margin of the front board. Gilt illustration and title to front board relatively faded. Paper slightly worn at outer corners of boards. Internally, a very clean, unmarked copy, complete with the fold-out plate before p. 37 and separate plate before page 67. Tiny chip lost from top edge of leaf comprising pp. 41-2. Overall, a good+ copy of the rare first edition. |
