Complete with 6-panel fold-out star map tipped in to rear paste-down, as issued. Original limp pebbled cloth in vgc for age, with no tears, but visible rubbing to extremities of spine, along spine hinges, and to outer corners of boards and parts of top edge of front board. Gilt-blocked decorative titling and picture to front cover a little age-faded in places but still mostly clear; gilt-blocked titling to spine likewise a little age-faded overall, but still decent. Both front and rear paste-downs have begun to work loose from the boards at their lower halves, but they are made of resilient card and could easily be glued back into place. Inked signature of former owner to ffep. Smallish liquid stain to lower outer corners of all front end-papers, extending to equivalent portion of preliminary leaves (far from text) and petering out in equivalent portion of early text leaves (with slight traces to the very corner as far as p. 128). Similar, smaller traces of liquid-staining to upper outer corners of early leaves, again far from text, and petering out by p. 134 approx. Rear endpapers with liquid stain to lower outer corners and small parts of outer margin; corner one with traces as far back as p. 391 approx, outer one with sporadically recurring traces to outermost 1-3mm only of outer margins of pages. The printed portions of the pages are not affected by any of this, and show no signs of rippling or damp. I could not find any previous owner markings either. Overall, this is still a very good copy of this desirable early edition of one of the astrological classics of the 20th century, with just minor cosmetic blemishes. The star map at the back is intact, with no tears or blemishes found.
