hb/dj De Vore, Nicholas Encyclopedia of Astrology 7th printing thus Bonanza Books, a Division of Crown Publishers, Inc. n.d. £40 By arrangement with Philosophical Library, Inc., and retaining their imprint to title page and spine, as issued. Shows only the copyright date of the original 1947 edition within, although the Bonanza / Crown edition is later, probably from the mid-1960s based on the dust jacket advertising. The letter ‘g’ to the copyright page being the first printed there shows this to be the 7th impression of the Bonanza edition. Original full blue cloth in near-fine condition. In vgc original bright blue pictorial dj, with 1 cm separation to top of rear spine hinge and some adjacent creasing to top of spine, and light wear to extremities of spine and of flap-folds. Ffep with a little paper residue from a removed label, and a plain-pencilled price. No other markings, and no internal faults found. Overall, a fine, clean, excellent copy of the second hardback edition of this essential reference work – second-best only to the rare, hard-to-find original printing, which seldom survives in such good condition as this one. Even the Bonanza edition is rare outside the USA.
