Description
| hb/dj | De Vore, Nicholas | Encyclopedia of Astrology | 4th thus | Bonanza Books, a Division of Crown Publishers, Inc. | n.d. | £35 | By arrangement with Philosophical Library, Inc., and retaining their imprint to title page and spine, as issued. Shows only the copyright date of the original 1947 edition within, although the Bonanza / Crown edition is later, probably from the mid-1960s based on the dust jacket advertising. This is the fourth Bonanza impression, as shown by the letter ‘d’ being the first of the letters printed on the copyright page, each of which represents an impression. | Original full blue cloth in near-fine condition, with minimal traces of rubbing to feet of spine hinges and tips of lower outer corners of boards. In newly-repaired vgc- dj, which had one long tear down the inner margin of the rear panel from the top, which has been repaired (see gallery picture) and stabilised with two layers of archival book repair tissue on the inside. Shorter tears to extremities of the rear flap-fold have also been repaired on the inside, as has a 1.5 cm tear to top of front panel; top of spine reinforced with archival repair tissue on the inside. Early owner’s blue-inked astrological witticism to ffep, starting ‘When Saturn messes around with your Sun, watch out’, making this a unique copy. Otherwise internally near-fine, with no other markings or faults found. |
