Ltd., Sixty-One Fleet Street, London | n.d. | £42.50 | Imprint places this edition in the date range of 1917-1921 | Publisher’s original full red cloth in good antiquarian condition for its age, with blind-stamped bordering to both boards and gilt titling to spine, which remains intact and clear. Cloth is worn at very top of spine and along parts of front hinge; spine is slightly sun-faded and shows signs of two small old liquid stains; boards with just minor scattered staining. Rear inner paper hinge cracked, but underlying webbing strong; front inner paper hinge with only minor early signs of cracking. Internally, a very good copy. Free endpapers toned; ffep bears traces of erased plain-pencilled signature, but no permanent markings found. Overall, a good+ authentic original copy of this attractive early British edition, with minor defects to the spine that detract very little from its appeal. |
