Morin, Jean-Baptiste – see also under Hiéroz, J. / Jean; Labouré , Denis; and Makransky, Bob, above; and under Selva, Henri; and Tobin Brittain, Patti / Tobin, Patty,  below

[1] Said to have graduated from Stamford in 1905 in classics before attaining a master’s degree in theology at Oxford. He is presumed to have been at least 85 years of age at the time this second edition went to press.

[2] Described as having a doctorate in archaeology at Harvard and as being Professor of Archaeology at the University of Calgary.

[3] Described by the author as “Dr. David Diringer of Cambridge University in England, lecturer on Semitic Epigraphy”

[4] This edition essentially consists of two separate works, united by a common reel of footnotes, bibliograhy, and index. Moran’s text fills up to page 139; and Kelley’s from pp. [141]-[194].

[5] The date of the first is given as 1953. It was considerably briefer in content because it did not include Kelley’s work that was appended for the second edition.

[6] Described as being professor of the history of modern art, and director of the Centre for the History of Renaissance Art at the university Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne

[7] A series directed by André Chastel and ‘co-ordinated’ by Philippe Morel, the editor of the present volume. It ran to five volumes, of which the present one alone is of primarily astrological importance.

[8] A concise exploration of keywords and key-phrases for the twelve Sun signs, chiefly psychologically oriented, but also with sections on their medical associations, and with briefer separate descriptions of each decan of each sign

[9] Some copies claim a limited printing of 415 copies, but there is no notice to this effect here, only a statement in the imprimatur that 30 copies have been printed ‘à part’ for the friends of the Sans Pareil; it would seem possible in view of the author’s signature that this was one such but that its recipient was not motivated to have the pages opened

[10] With separate title pages to each of the four component books, situated at p. [1] of each of the four main separately paginated sections.

[11] “Translated into Spanish by Pepita Sanchis Llacer… Translated into English from the Spanish with the permission of Pepita Sanchis Llacer by Anthony Louis LaBruzza”

[12] The original printing is dated to 2002 and described as a ‘limited edition’.

[13] The sole volume in the A.F.A.’s series of translations from Morin to be published in such a format. The cover design is otherwise a match for the other volumes in the series except the original printing of Vol. XXI, although later printings of that volume are said to have been redesigned to match the design of the later issues in the series.

[14] The original single-volume folio edition in Latin containing all 26 ‘books’; of this edition, the above works are but partial modern translations

[15] ‘Discours Historique de la Vie, de la Passion, et de la Mort de Nostre Seigneur Iesus-Christ’ – unsigned and in a different type size from the rest of the volume; appears not to belong to it because it is not present in other copies described in library records, and cannot be assumed to be the work of Morin at all, though it is probably contemporaneous

[16] This work is another translation of Book XXI of the AStrologia Gallica

[17] So stated on front cover but not internally; there is no differential printing date and it is therefore not clear whether this printing was slightly later than 1943

[18] A collection of modern French editions of older texts on alchemy, astrology and magic, directed by René Alleau

[19] A modern reset edition of the original French edition published at Paris in 1657, preceded by a lengthy essay by Halbronn on Morin’s life and astrological works, comprising pp. [13]-42 of this volume
