Vouga, Charles E.; ed. Holley, Germaine ‘Une Astrologie pour L’Ère du Verseau: Extraits de Conférences Données à Paris et à Lausanne entre 1956 et 1963’ Éditions du Rocher, 1979

[1] After the 1919 third edition of 168 pages by Otto Pöllner, q. v., the undated second edition of 151 pages by Karl Brandler-Pracht, and the undated original edition of 146 pages (presumed 1910) by Karl Brandler-Pracht, q. v.

[2] Date uncertain. Not in DNB. Presumed mid-late 1950s. Swiss library records give 1957; German ones variously estimate ca. 1955 and “after 1957”

[3] The first in a planned trilogy of volumes on the history of astrology by the author. Unfortunately, it was the only one published. The others were supposed to be Band II: Mittelalter, and Band III: Neuzeit, as shown in the advertisements on the lower two-thirds of p. 159, the top part of which is the end of the index

[4] DNB records give 1923

[5] DNB records give 1921 for this edition, which appears correct

[6] Bound up thus by a former owner together with two other titles: “Studen- und Frage-Horoskopie” by the same author; and “Die Tattwas” by Theobald Becher, both q. v.

[7] This dating is supported by DNB records although the title page itself is undated

[8] Bound up thus by a former owner together with two other titles: “Die Hilfshoroskopie” by the same author; and “Die Tattwas” by Theobald Becher, both q. v.

[9] Former Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Bayreuth

[10] A series of publications edited by Fritz Graf, Hans G. Kippenberg and Lawrence E. Sullivan

[11] A series of books collectively edited by the present author

[12] Worldcat gives 1929

[13] Earlier editions were published in 1925 (with predictions for 1925-8) and in 1926 (with predictions for 1926-9). It is presumed that these account for the first 8,000 copies implied as having been previously produced in this edition, although the contents are not an exact match because of the shifting years. Further, it is evident that this was one of a series of four connected publications by the author, each offering predictions for natives of one quarter of the year; but it is presumed that the print runs of the others have been counted separately.

[14] The third in a series of publications originating from the named series of seemingly annually held workshops, though not all were taken from that of 1957

[15] The dust jacket mysteriously refers to the novel as having been retitled ‘Planet Girl’ after first being published as ‘Ad Astra’ and then serialised in World Astrology Magazine under the name ‘Planet Girl’. Since World Astrology Magazine commenced publishing in 1937, the dust jacket is a mystery. Barring the possibility that the dust jacket belonged to a later edition and has been transferred to the original limited edition, two other possible scenarios present: either that this dust jacket was a later addition designed to facilitate sales of residual copies of the limited first edition of the book after it had been popularised in serial form, or that this limited edition of the book was not the first at all and bears only the copyright date of the original edition.

[16] A lecturer in Religious Studies at the University of Kent, where she is director of a Masters programme in the Cultural Study of Cosmology and Divination. Her PhD, awarded by City University, London, was on Ficino’s astrological music therapy.

[17] A series of publications edited by Nicolas Goodricke-Clarke, director of the Centre for the Study of Esotericism at the University of Exeter

[18] A collection of twelve essays by different scholars and astrologers including Dorian Gieseler Greenbaum, Patrick Curry, Maggie Hyde, Charles Burnett, Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke, Frank McGillion, Liz Greene, and Angela Voss.

[19] A work of numerology-based birth date interpretation

[20] Over the top of the original printed publisher’s details has been pasted an old label of a bookseller: “P. Weinkopff, Brandenburg, Havel, Bäckerstr. 33”

[21] Apparently an earlier, more limited privately printed edition of what would become the title “Une Astrologie pour L’Ère du Verseau” as published by Éditions du Rocher in 1979. Internally comprises five lectures, and an extract from the book ‘Astrologie Expérimentale’.

[22] Believed probably to date from the 1960s, in common with other lectures grouped with this one at the time of purchase from their former owner
