Fowler & Co. | 1910 | £30 | 317pp including advertisements from pp. 305-317. | Original full vertically ribbed green cloth in good- condition for its age, with chipping of top 5mm of cloth on rear side of spine, and of bottom 2mm on same side; lesser fraying to extremities of front spine hinge; wear to cloth over outer corners of boards, and along occasional parts of outer edges of boards; traces of rippling and staining to cloth; boards slightly bowed. Gilt titling to front board and spine still quite strong for its age. Pages-edges browned. Internally, the book is solidly bound and mostly clean. End-papers toned. Traces of liquid-staining to rear paste-down, with associated mild rippling to equivalent areas of advertising pages at the end, and minimally to appendix before this. Plain-pencilled initials to front blank. Blue-inked marginal dash to p. 75. A few corrected dog-eared corners. Small ink-stain to p. 128, crossing one word but without loss of definition to its letters. Tiny 2mm tear to bottom edge of leaf comprising pp. 243-4. Externally good-; internally good+; overall, a good copy of the rare first edition in its original state, with fascinating period advertising matter that gives valuable insights into the state of operations at Modern Astrology Office in 1910.
