Planetary Influences. – Vol. I 1st Astro Publishing Company, Hodges Building, Detroit, Michigan 1902 £50 [Coloured frontis.] + [1 leaf] + [pp. iii-x] + [pp. xv-xxvi] + 244pp. The pagination on the preliminary pages of this volume always leaps from x to xv. This copy lacks the title leaf but is otherwise complete. Later full red cloth in vgc+ condition, with light rubbing to extremities of spine hinges and tips of outer corners of boards. The section of cloth from the original front board featuring the gilt title label has been pasted to the front board. Internally, this copy is in sound condition except for the missing title leaf. It includes the attractive coloured frontispiece plate. A short edge-tear to leaf comprising pp. 127-8 has been carefully repaired without tape. Plain-pencilled marginal dashes or crosses to pp. 160, 161, 196, 214 and 225; a little faint blackish (possibly pencilled or pen) underlining to pp. 225 and 227; and a few minor traces of ink spatter to p. 208, but no other markings found. Overall, a near-very-good rebound copy of the rare first edition, lacking only the title leaf, which has been factored into the price.
