hb/dj Rudhyar, Dane The Astrology of Personality 1st thus Doubleday, Garden City, New York 1970 £20 After the 1963 edition, itself reprinted from the original of 1936 Original full orange cloth in vgc+ condition, with moderate rubbing to foot of spine, light creasing towards head and tail of centre of spine, and minor rubbing to lower outer corners of boards; small ink stain to top edge of rear board. In good dj, which has approx. 1.5 cm chip lost from top of rear spine hinge, with connected 2 cm tear to upper inner margin of rear panel; a few other short tears to top edge of rear panel; moderate chipping to tops of flap-folds; moderate rubbing and light tearing to extremities of spine; some surface rubbing to flap-folds; and a few ink-stains to upper margin of rear panel. Early owner’s inked signature, dated April, 1973, to ffep. Internally, a well-studied copy, with neatly ruled black-inked or occasionally dark purple-inked underlining to parts of many pages between pp. vii-42, pp. 217-274 and pp. 308-371, which fortunately blends in fairly unobtrusively with the black print of the text; also occasional hand-inked marginal notes alongside, all of which take the form of studious, sometimes critical, commentaries upon the text, and are a unique feature of this copy. From pp. 162-172, some pale blue-inked underlining and marginal notes, with occasional blue-inked marginal brackets after this point. There is also red-inked mark-up at pp. 231-3, pp. 319-322, p. 343, pp. 356-366, p. 383, and pp. 385-7. These page references may not be exhaustive. Lower half of inner paper hinge cracked between pp. 210 and 211, but underlying webbing holding. Internally only good; overall, a decent good+ copy of this vintage hardback edition, in good dj.
