pb Carey, Dr. George W. Chemistry of the Cosmos: a compilation of writings, epigrams, etc. Very early Press of the “Astrological Bulletina” monthly magazine, Portland, Oregon n.d. £125 1st edition dates from c. 1916-1919, but this copy was bound up slightly later, post-dating the publisher’s move to California in 1920, as shown by the address in the added advertising matter at the back: Llewellyn Publishing Co., 1507 S. Ardmore Ave., Los Angeles, Calif. Original small-format thin card covers in vgc- condition, with 2 cm paper separation to top of rear spine hinge, 1 cm to foot of front spine hinge, with related cross-tear, and a small area of tearing to centre of spine; mostly light peripheral creasing to covers, a little deeper across upper outer corners. 3mm-deep black ink stain to upper margin of title page and following three leaves, then petering out. No other permanent markings or faults found. For its age, this fragile small book has survived very well, and rates as very good overall. This original edition is very rare in any binding state.
