AUTHOR-SIGNED COPY. Original large-format blue cloth in vgc, with moderate rubbing to extremities of spine hinges and light rubbing to outer corners of boards; small traces of light rubbing to parts of edges of boards. Slight sun-fading of cloth colour to spine and to top and bottom margins of front board and parts of rear board. Gilt titling to front board and spine remains bright and strong. In near-fine dj, which has a short 7mm tear to top of rear flap-fold and a tiny internal tear half-way down inner margin of rear panel. Orange endpapers, as issued, with author’s large signature to ffep in blue ink. Internally fine, with no other markings or faults found. Overall, a vgc+ copy of the sought-after first edition, in near-fine dj, this copy made more valuable by the author’s signature.
