This is the original edition Original lilac paper-covered solid boards with matching paper-covered spine (spine paper fragile and internally creased, exhibiting tear down upper half of front hinge, though underlying binding very strong). Small ink stain to outer margin of front board. Gilt illustration and title to front board are faded but still visible if held up to the light at a slight angle. Bookseller’s plain-pencilled marks to ffep, and plain-pencilled digit to rear paste-down. No permanent markings or other faults found. Complete with the fold-out plate before p. 37 and separate plate before page 67. A vgc- original copy of the rare first edition
