hb/dj Wemyss, Maurice The Wheel of Life, or Scientific Astrology 1st L. N. Fowler & Co. Ltd. n.d. £100 This original Fowler edition is undated in print but was published in 1929 or early 1930. Original textured blue cloth with gilt titling to spine. Cloth in near-fine condition, with slight sun-fading along top and to very foot of spine. Gilt to spine remains strong and bright. In vgc- original dj, which has 4 cm tear down top of rear spine hinge, linked to a cross-tear across part of spine, and has short tears to extremities of rear flap-fold, one short tear to bottom edge of rear panel, and slight sun-browning to spine; rear dj panel with slight creasing to upper and lower margins, and a few tiny dark ink stains to upper margin; front dj panel with old hand-pencilled (apparently) imperial price sticker over top of original printed price, apparently in matching paper therefore probably the publisher’s own work. Internally a near-fine copy. Old plain-pencilled price marking and a separate small, neatly printed New York bookseller address label to front paste-down. Revised publisher’s address stamp to lower margin of title page. No other markings or faults found. The original Fowler edition is rare, and even more so in its dust jacket.
