Gilt titling to spine still strong and bright. In mylar-protected original yellow dust jacket, which is relatively age-browned but in good overall condition, with one chip lost from upper inner corner of rear panel (not reaching text), small chip lost from top of front panel (far from text), and minor wear to extremities of spine and of flap-folds. Inked signature of early owner, dated July 1, 1950, to front past-down. Vintage advertisement of New York mail-order bookseller adhered to ffep. Tiny grey marginal stain (accidental plain-pencil mark?) to p. 217, but no deliberate previous owner markings or other blemishes found to any of the printed pages. Overall, an excellent, clean copy of the first edition, in serviceable original dust jacket, which seldom survives at all |
