Lippincott Company, Philadelphia / London 1931 £135 After the original edition of 1923 and second of 1928 Original full red cloth in vgc+ condition, with light rubbing to top of spine; moderate rubbing to foot of spine and along parts of bottom edges of boards. The corners of the boards remain in excellent condition. Trace of dark staining along inset areas between spine and boards. Traces of dust jacket paper transfer to lower margin of rear board. Page-edges toned, with a few minor traces of ink-staining to bottom edge of page block. In vgc- dj, which remains structurally sound at the joints but has light chipping to extremities of spine and of flap-folds, a tiny circular hole in spine, an even smaller hole in the rear panel, minor chipping to top edge of front panel, and various old stains, mostly to spine and along flap-folds and adjacent outer-marginal areas of main panels. Internally a very good copy, with no previous owner markings found. Traces of liquid-staining to outer margin of front paste-down and outer margins of ffep and following title page leaf, with faint traces of same in equivalent areas of outer margins of the following two preface leaves. These are minor and far from the text. Tiny 3mm tear to top edge of leaf comprising pp. 127-8. Binding slightly strained at inner paper hinge between pp. 176 and 177, but cords holding and webbing looks strong. Otherwise a near-fine copy internally. Charming vintage Samuel Weiser Inc. Occult Books address label to lower inner margin of front paste-down. Very occasional traces of foxing, e.g. small patch to outer margins of pp. 166-7, but nothing widespread, with the paper remaining generally fresh, clean and bright for its age. Rare in dj
