Possible third overall impression, after the rare undated original edition published c. early 1850s and the undated first Foulsham printing of the late 19th century. Original green cloth in vgc for age, with moderate rubbing to extremities of spine, along parts of spine hinges, and to outer corners of boards; and scattered patches of scuffing to boards. Endpapers lightly browned. Paper hinge following ffep very slightly strained, but cords and webbing holding; similar at joins from pp. 64-65 and pp. 80-81. Old brown-inked signature of former owner to ffep. Printed on cheap paper throughout, which is slightly browned accordingly. Corrected dog-ears to upper outer corners of leaves comprising pp. 53-4, 57-8, 67-8; minor dog-ears to extreme upper outer corners of some late leaves. Tiny ink stain to outer margin of p. 80, but no deliberate previous owner markings found beyond ffep. A very good copy of this desirable early impression. All editions before 1950 are now rare.
