[1] Library records show 1975

[1a] The author’s date of birth is given as 18 Octobre 1951 at Sousse (Tunisie)

[2] Library records show 1877

[3] The identity of this author is not known

[4] A general, sweeping forecast for broad changes to be expected in the Age of Aquarius in several themed areas of human society and experience. There is no detailed astrological analysis or discussion of the dates involved in the expected changes

[5] Library records show 1941

[6] Neither this, nor the implicit original French edition, is found in French library records. The translation is from the original English-language edition recorded as having been published in India in 1901 under the name “Four Lectures on Astrology, Exoteric and Esoteric”, which ran to 72 pages. Despite the fact that the original Indian edition is found in four libraries recorded on Worldcat, and the French editions in none, the second French edition has proved much more common on the second-hand market-place in recent years than the original Indian one, which would appear probably to have suffered from low levels of distribution outside India

[6a] This edition is stated as having been translated from the sixth English edition

[6b] After the earlier editions of Becker’s translation of c. 1922 or 1923, and 1928, respectively

[6c] After the original edition of c. 1922-3, with the following editions unrecorded in Worldcat and appearing from second-hand listings also to have been undated. Booksellers currently estimate 1925 for the second edition and approximately 1930 for the third

[6d] After the original edition of 1923 and second, improved edition of 1931

[6e] This edition is declared as having been translated from the third English edition. Library records show that the two earlier editions of Becker’s translation were published in 1923 and in 1929, respectively. The Worldcat record for the 1923 edition also declares that it was translated from the third English edition

[6f] After the earlier undated editions of Becker’s translation recorded in Worldcat records as having been published in 1923 and 1933, respectively

[7] A list of ‘Foreign Agents’ in America, France and Holland follows – too long to include here

[8] With separate title page to [p. 95]: “A Condensed Ephemeris of the Planets’ Places for Every Seventh Day, ([Mercury] Every 3rd or 4th Day) from 1850 to 1905 Inclusive, (One Year to a Page) Including [Sun] and [North Node], with the Stationary Positions During Each Year of [Mars], [Venus] and [Mercury]. Followed by The Moon’s Place for every day during the same period. From which a Horoscope may be computed correctly to within 2′ of the true longitude of any planet. – Calculated for mean noon, Greenwich”. With separate title page to [p. 183]: “Table of Ascendants for each degree of Latitude from 0º to 60º. Calculated for Latitude North of the Equator, but Equally Serviceable for Places South of the Equator, When Used According to the Method Described in Chapter VII. Giving Also the Polar Elevation of the Various Houses in All Latitudes, From Which the Twelve Houses of the Horoscope Can Be Accurately Computed; and Thus Constituting Virtually a Table of Houses for All Latitudes from 0º to 60º. The method of using this table is explained in Chapter vii”

[9] With separate title page on last leaf before p. 211: “[“Astrology for All” Series, Volume II.] Astrology for All Part II. Supplement to Second Edition. Containing the Additional Matter Which it was Considered Advisable to Incorporate When Issuing the Second and Revised Esition of Astrology for All, Part II. (See Foreword Within.) The various chapters, notes, etc., are by several contributors to “Modern Astrology,” the whole being supervised and edited by Alan Leo” (same publication details)

[10] As three notes above

[11] Original, slim edition of the work that in the next two editions became known as ‘Astrology All Part II’, q. v. above

[12] NB: A later printing of a reversion of the work formerly known as ‘Astrology for All Part II’ to the original title of the much slimmer prototype edition to that work, q. v. above

[13] In spite of its title, this work is incomplete as published, ending with the keyword ‘Horoscope’. For the revised posthumous edition of 1929 see under Leo, Alan, ed. Robson, Vivian, below

[14] British Library records give 1905

[15] Title to front board is instead ‘Alan Leo’s Astrological Text Books. Esoteric Astrology’. With separate title page to [p. 129]: “Esoteric Astrology – Second Part[:] Explanatory Diagrams and Illustrative Horoscopes”. With separate title page to [p. 239]: “Esoteric Astrology – Third Part[:] The Divisions of the Zodiac”

[16] Presumed to mean L. N. Fowler & co., but misprinted

[17] The way it is presented, the epithet “The Astrological Publishing Society” appears to be a description of the publisher L. N. Fowler & Co. rather than a separate organisation also responsible for publishing the book in London

[18] The first edition. This copy is in poor condition but appears complete in its contents

[19] This edition, in comon with the first and second, is finished in red cloth, although in this case it is properly wrapped around the boards instead of just coming to the edges as with the earliest printings. Later printings are in the standard green cloth

[20] 1927 or later, as shown by internal advertisement for “Astrological Investigation” by W. Frankland, which was first published in 1927

[21] Believed from library records to have been published in 1901
