[1] A very large-format book whose contents from p. 12, after a brief text introduction, consist entirely of large colour reproductions of old artwork, edged with historically focused notes

[2] Worldcat records tentatively suggest 1896, but do not record any libraries that hold a copy

[3] [sic]

[4] Original printed copyright date of 1907 has been papered over in typescript with the revised date; it is unclear if it was first published in 1907 and this is a second printing, or if publication was delayed significantly after the book was prepared for sending to the printers, resulting in the need for the correction.

[5] Copyright entry date at Library of Congress, as noted on final page

[6] On the inner title page, just 133 appears; but on the front board, 131-133. On this copy, the original publisher name on the internal title page has been weakly stricken through with plain pencil, and the later stamp of Mildred K. Stowe, Catherine, Detroit, Mich., added beneath

[7] Despite the lack of picture on the front board of this copy, the binding appears original in view of the font on the spine exactly matching that on the other. From the available internal evidence, it is reasonably presumed the original issue

[8] In common with the issue shown above, the only firm internal date is the copyright date of 1907. However, the added “Second Preface” (which I have more accurately characterised in my pagination as “4 pages of advertisements”) in this issue refers to the Great War as being current. The present issue is therefore presumed to date from around 1915-1918. The binding notably lacks the gilt edges and titles, rounded outer-corners and laid-in chart of the original issue shown above, though it has gained an added silver illustration to the front board, entitled ‘The Twelve Signs of the Zodiac’. The last line of the list of the author’s other publications on the original title page has been effaced in this printing, as the new imprimatur has been superimposed prior to printing. It seems reasonable to conjecture that Stowe had wound up his Astrological Publishing Co. at some point since 1907, and was now therefore selling his book in his own personal name as publisher. It would appear from the wording of the added preface that this issue should also have been supplied with the large fold-out chart, but it has been lost from this copy, presumably long ago, and its survival with any early edition of the book is rare

[9] An undated later impression, purchased new in early 2000s, of the Health Research facsimile reprint first published in 1965. The publisher’s website address is given on the copyright page, proving that this reprint cannot predate 1994. In all probability it was either printed and bound on demand or issued from recently printed stock at the time of purchase. It is not clear from what edition the Health Research reprint was itself sourced, or why it has considerably more prefatory pages than the original edition

[10] Title to internal title page. Title to front board is abbreviated to ‘What Is Coming’

[10a] The completely different pagination of this edition proves it is a different issue from (and probably an earlier one than) the one listed below, despite the identical datings.

[10b] The title page retains the date of 1896 carried over from the original edition, q. v. above, but this is an expanded revision from 1913 (so stated on p. 367) with better-integrated pagination. The section ‘Finance in Prophecy’ that started with a new page 1 in the earlier printing now starts with page 265 and ends with page 366. The preface has been amended with a paragraph beginning ‘Upon revising this book’ inserted and the discussions of past Presidents moved to the final section of the book, with the original pp. R-CC now forming pages 440-450. We can suppose that the original B-Q should have been moved to the missing pages 424-439, though the actual page 439 appears to be unrelated to the following page 440 and those from 407-438 are missing from this misbound copy. All other content from p. 367 onwards is a declared addition to the new edition

[11] No library records found. A previous owner’s signature dated December 1957 would suggest a probable origin in the mid-1950s

[12] A planned series of publications collectively edited by A. M. Grimm, of which this is the only title to have appeared so far as I have been able to determine to date

[13] Internally comprises a new translation into German of the second edition (1675) of the book “Aegidii Strauchii, Professoris Quondam Wittebergensis Aphorismi Astrologici, Methodice in Usum Docentium et Discentium Collecti – Accessit Cypriani Leovitii de Judiciis Nativitatum Doctrina, Ea Methodo Tradita, Ut Omnium Thematum Consi Derationibus Accommo Dari Possit”. The first part of the work (pp. 5-44 in this translation) comprises 71 aphorisms, some of them quite extended, by Strauch. The remainder (pp. 45-214), attributed to Cyprian von Leowitz, comprises 432 numbered paragraphs

[14] From its fresh appearance, this copy is evidently an undeclared later reprint of the edition first published thus in 1954, itself after the 1924 original, q.v. above

[15] The front cover illustration is copyrighted July, 1914, but there is no specific printing date for this stated fourth edition of the publication
