[1] A set of twelve lessons on this subject; it is clear from the introduction that the earlier, separately-published courses labelled I. Teil, II. Teil and III. Teil were concerned with general and other astrological topics

[2] No German library records found through Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog. From its appearance, guessed to date from the 1950s or 1960s

[2a] This work is further described on the copyright page as the 90th exhibition catalogue of the Duke August Library at Wolfenbüttel. The contents consist chiefly of a set of detailed illustrated commentaries on 54 themed exhibits that were to displayed at the exhibition between 23rd November 2008 and 7th June, 2009, with some further historical essays. The themes are organised into six main groups, classified as ancient astronomy and astrology; astrology in the Middle Ages; Renaissance astronomy and astrology;  astrology in the Age of Faith; the new cosmology; and star charts and celestial globes. The book concludes with a short essay on astronomical and astrological instruments

[2b] Published on behalf of Herzog August Bibliothek, Wolfenbüttel, which claims the copyright

[3] Worldcat gives 1969

[3a] In or after 1965. A note indicates that the first four of the five chapters were originally serially published in The New Age Interpreter in 1965

[4] A work of Christian mysticism. The contents are centered around the solstices and equinoxes of the year

[5] The date of the original edition is given as 1944

[6] A series of publications edited at this time by Johannes Irmscher

[7] A critical edition of the ancient Greek text of the commentary attributed to Heliodorus on the work of Paulus Alexandrinus, followed by seven pages of select commentary in German by Neugebauer and Pingree

[8] A work divided into three main text parts. The first, entitled “Astro-Medical Diagnosis”, is written by Henry, and spans pp. 1-21. The second, “Studies in Character Analysis”, on physiognomy, is written by Hall and seems likely to have been reproduced by his book of that name, first published in 1958. The extract here spans pp. 24-31. Following various vintage illustrations, the third part, “Some Amsing Characteristics”, would appear once again to have been penned by Henry. It spans pp. 45-53.

[9] This title appears on the front cover only. Internally, only the series title and number are given, together with the list of the four component essays, each of which is separately paginated within. The essays comprise the first four issues in the series “Welt und Mensch”, reprinted together under a single cover, and are: Astronomie und Religion; Sternbilder Primitiver Völker; Märchen von den Sternen (Naturvölker); and Märchen von den Sternen (Kulturvölker)

[10] = Beiheft zu “Die Sterne”, 1928, zweites Halbjahr. “Mit Unterstützung des Astrophysicalischen Observatoriums zu Potsdam”

[11] The date of the first printing is given as having been 1981

[12] A very long-running series of critical editions of ancient Greek and Latin texts, edited at this time by Günther Christian Hansen

[13] A critical edition of the ancient Greek text of Hephaestio of Thebes’ “Three Books of Apotelesmatics”, the later translations of which, by Robert Schmidt and Eduardo Gramaglia, are listed separately below. The text spans pp. 1-333 and is followed by lengthy indices

[14] A critical edition of the ancient Greek text of Hephaestio of Thebes’ “Four Epitomes of Apotelesmatics”, of which no English translation has yet been produced and published. The text spans pp. 1-350 and is followed by a few tables and lengthy indices

[15] Translated from the critical edition of David Pingree, as published in 1973, q. v. above

[15a] A series of publications collectively edited at this time by Michael Lackner, Chia-Feng Chang, Klaus Herbers and Alexander Fidora, and co-ordinated by Fabrizio Pregadio

[15b] A collection of 11 studies by different scholars, including Stefano Rapisdarda, Agostino Paravicini Balgiani, Matthias Heiduk and the editors

[16] A monochrome facsimile reprint of the original printed by Israel Holdsworth, Central Market, Leeds, 1851. In this instance, the text as reproduced fills only the central portion of the very large A4 leaves, and could usefully have been enlarged to fill more of them or would just as well have been printed on much smaller sheets.

[17] A series of publications jointly directed at this time by the late Paolo Lucentini (1937-2011) and Vittoria Perrone Compagni, together with an editorial committee comprising Lucia Ghilla, Sylvain Matton, Ilaria Parri and Antonella Sannino

[18] This volume is a compendium of critical editions of several Latin and Arabic texts, only occasionally with English translation included. The main contents are: Liber de stellis beibeniis (ed. Kunitzsch); Fragmentum pseudo-Aristotelicum (ed. Burnett and Pingree); Sefer Hermes (ed. Lelli); Liber de accidentibus (ed. Lucentini); Liber Antimaquis (ed. Burnett); De amiticia vel inimicitia planetarum (ed. Burnett); Segullat ha-moah (ed. Lelli); Liber de spatula (ed. Burnett); Lectura geomantiae (ed. Charmasson); and Liber runarum (ed. Lucentini)

[19] An American custom art-house production, undated but purchased new from the maker around 2007.  It is a retitled edition of the original English edition whose first title began “Hermes Mercurius Trismegistus, his Divine pymander, in seventeen books”. The text is completely reset from the edition stated as having been published in London, 1650; but in fact this was an error carried forward from earlier 19th century reprints, and the true original publication date is recorded in library records as 1657 (printed by J. S. for Thomas Brewster, at the three Bibles in Pauls Churchyard near the west end, London). The 1657 edition further included the Asclepius, not reproduced here

[20] Title on inner title page thus. On the front cover, it is given instead as ‘I: Poimandrès[;] Traités II-XII’. It would appear that Poimandrès is the name of the first treatise (Traité I); but the “I” on the front cover in fact refers to the first volume in the set as a whole, because the front cover of the second volume bears a “II” although it is not introducing a treatise numbered thus.

[21] The pagination in this set is extremely irregular, making frequent use of matched pairs of pages bearing the same number, as well as matched pairs of unnumbered pages, and normally paginated pages. The most concise way in which I could represent the matched pairs of numbered pages was to refer to them as ‘twin-page spreads’. By counting all the numbers referred to as ‘twin-page spreads’ as two pages each, since they are, one can arrive at an accurate calculation of the total true number of printed pages in each volume
