About this Book Scan

Carefully reproduced in full colour from our original printing of the 1894 first standalone edition.

‘The Soul and the Stars’ by A. G. Trent was an influential essay on the philosophy of astrology that was first featured in the University Magazine in March 1880. It was revised and extended by the author for this first standalone publication 14 years later.

Trent was in reality Dr. Richard Garnett, an English librarian who served as the Keeper of Printed Books at the British Museum from 1890 to 1899. ‘A. G. Trent’ was chosen as an anagram of his surname, Garnett.
