About this Book Scan

Little is known of J. A. Houghton, who seems to have been relatively peripheral to the astrological community, but they authored two important books of relevance to astrology, of which The Supreme Rulers (1908), which was the only one published in the UK, was the first.

It is particularly interesting on account of its use of a fictional narrative based on travel within an animate solar system to illustrate elementary astrological principles, with Luna being among the most prominent characters.

Houghton’s second astrological book, Hand-Book of Astrology (1910), was instead published in Los Angeles, California. We have an original of that one too, but have not yet scanned any American works after 1894, and hope to make it available for download at a later date when we have tackled more of those.
