The Harrap edition has an attractive front board design with gilt Sun Original full maroon cloth in vgc+ antiquarian condition, with moderate rubbing to extremities of spine hinges and outer corners of boards, and a minor race of same to outer edge of front board. Boards slightly bowed. The gilt titling and Sun to the front board remain fairly bright and strong; to the spine, they are excellent, making this an unusually attractive copy to have on a bookshelf. Light browning to acidic endpapers, as usual. Internally, there are traces of pale blue-inked underlining and / or marginal brackets to pp. 6-11, 13, 39-41, 46-8, 50, 53, 128, 179, 181 and 187. Some plain-pencilled marginal notes and underlinings to a few other pages. Corrected dog-ears to upper outer corner of leaves comprising pp. 35-6, 39-42, 129-130, 221-2. Tiny 3mm chip lost from bottom edge of blank lower margin of leaf comprising pp. 133-4. Externally very good+; internally good+. Overall, a near-vgc antiquarian original of the sought-after UK true first edition.
