hb/dj Lewi, Grant Astrology for the Millions 2nd Garden City Publishing Co., Inc., Garden City, New York 1942 £90 After the first edition of 1940, which is exceedingly rare Original deep red cloth in vgc for its age, structurally sound and pleasingly unfaded, although rubbed to the extremities of spine and along the bottom edges and lower outer corners of boards, with light rubbing to the top edges and upper outer corners. The original red-on-black zodiacal illustration to the spine and front board remains intact and gives this copy vintage charm. In good- original pictorial dj, which has chipping to extremities of rear spine hinge and foot of spine, light chipping to extremities of flap-folds, and a few small internal holes within or immediately adjacent to rear flap-fold; also a short tear to top edge of front panel and a longer (approx. 3.5 cm) closed tear to upper inner margin of rear panel. The pictorial design of the dj retains its dramatic impact despite these peripheral losses. Top edge of page block dyed deep green, as issued. Old stamp of ‘2C 100’ to upper inner corner of rear paste-down. Early presentation notice in dark blue ink from a man to his wife, dated 1944, to ffep. Plain-pencilled dash adjacent to chapter title to p. 22, but a very clean copy internally, with the paper remaining fresh and bright, and free from permanent previous owner markings beyond the initial inscription and final stamp mentioned above.
