Notes: Introduced by Cyril Fagan. Undated internally, but the 1954 date appears towards the foot of the spine, and was also present on the dust jacket originally, although this copy does not have the dust jacket.

Condition: Original pattern-textured blue cloth in vgc for age, with moderate rubbing to extremities of spine; light rubbing along spine hinges and to outer corners of boards. Originally gilt titling to front board and spine faded but still legible. Front and rear paste-downs slightly creased; small piece of extraneous paper adhered to rear paste-down; inner margins of free endpapers toned. Former owner’s identical address stamps to ffep, rear free endpaper, blank before frontispiece, unprinted part of title page, lower margins of pp. [vii], [ix], xvi and 354, and of p. iv of errata at end of book, and upper margin of p. xvii. Llewellyn Publications distribution stamp to lower margin of title page. No other deliberate markings found. Lowest part of inner paper hinge before title page slightly tender. Small orange-brown stain between two lines of text to p. 35. Small greyish stain to upper inner margin of p. 115. Light thumb-print to outer margin of p. 111. Overall, a very good copy inside and out in spite of the original owner’s liberal application of his own name stamps to the preliminary and final leaves. The original edition is rare in any condition.
