[1] The extended subtitle that follows appears on the main inner title page but is absent from the front cover on this edition, the reverse of the situation on the 11th edition, q. v. below

[2] Copyrighted 1898, but the dating of this edition is ultimately unclear and could be slightly later if 1898 is that of the first

[3] The title on the inner title page is complete thus. To the equivalent title on the front cover is added this rambling extended text: ” – Complete Instructions In the Science of Astrology. From Date of Birth. – Fortunate and Unfortunate Days of the Year. How To Avoid Sickness, Poverty and Misfortune. How to write a Horoscope and Foretell Future Events. [4] Copyrighted 1905

[5] On the advertisement on the rear cover, he additionally styles himself ‘President of the American School of Astrology’

[5a] On this copy, the date of 1904 has been hand-pencilled in, presumably by Prof. Macdonald. It is clearly a variant printing from the one listed below as shown by the different title

[6] Most of the books advertised at the rear pre-date this, but the first library records on Worldcat for two of them are in 1906, so it’s possible that this copy was bound up around then or shortly after, barring the alternative possibility that their release was already anticipated in 1905 but had not been effected

[7] Library records give 1915

[8] With separate second title page: Mackey, S. A. ‘The Companion to the Mythological Astronomy, &c. Containing Remarks on recent Publications on Mythology, Etymology, and Geology. In which, also, is shown, the Insufficiency of Rotary and Orbicular Motion to Form Atoms Into Globes Without the Assistance of that Unseen Power, which is denominated Attraction. Illustrated by Plates’ – Printed by R. Walker, and Published by the Author Prince’s Street; and in London by his Grand-Daughter, E. Bluring, 32, Granby Place, New Cut, Lambeth, 1824. The author explains the ‘alteration in the new Title Page’ by referring readers to his separate New Theory of the Earth and of Planetary motion in respect of the originally promised contents of the present work. There is no sign of the promised plates in the present work as bound here

[9] Consists internally of two separate works  paginated together: “More Pious Frauds on the Antiquity of the Two Zodiacs of Tentyra, (Illustrated with Two Engravings)” – Prince’s Street, Norwich, 1831; and “The Zodiac of Thebes; which is proved to contain the position of the Ecliptic 40,000 Years Back’ (no separate publication information)

[10] A facsimile reprint, issued early-mid 2000s, of the original edition published by Luzac & Co., 46 Great Russell Street, W.C.1, London, 1930

[11] Essentially a coffee-table book on the history of astrology, with many inset monochrome and colour illustrations. A brief primer of the astrological associations of the signs and planets, and simplified ephemerides for the years 1901-1966, are included for good measure

[12] An apparent early American reprint of the original published by Aldus Books Limited, London W1, in 1964, possibly but not certainly in same year
