[1] They are labelled as plates but are just line diagrams on ordinary paper. The real plates are on proper plate paper on the last three pages only.
[1a] Delayed publication led to the date of issue being early 2020
[2] A series of publications collectively edited at this time by Otto von Bressensdorff and Fritz Werle
[3] A recent facsimile reprint of the original edition printed for J. Bew, in Pater Noster Row, London, 1774
[4] Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at Indiana University
[5] Professor of History at Princeton University
[6] A series of publications edited by Jed Buchwald
[7] A collection of eight substantial studies by different authors or teams of authors, including Germana Ernst, H. Darrel Rutkin, Lauren Kassell, and the editors of the present volume
[7a] This copy was received new in 2020. The copyright date given of 2020 is presumed common to the first printing of the UK edition for this best-selling book
[8] This is not an astrology book in the conventional sense, but rather a wide-ranging guide to the use of computer-programming in BASIC for the purpose of statistical data analysis and probability estimation. There is a chapter included on programming the calculation of planetary positions, calendar dates and the times of tides
[8a] Above the original printed address has been printed in correction: 11, Rue Bois-le Vent
[9] A vast improvement on the original first edition of 1937, which in its original incarnation featured just four latitude sheets and was therefore much less versatlie and precise. The present specimen is complete in its original box with all the latitude cards, and later optional declination card and fixed star overlays that were not available in 1943. Duplicates of many contents are also included as a result of an earlier purchase I made of a set of the cards without the original device
[9a] On the box, this is referred to as “Le Canevas du Ciel Zodiacal sur lequel on peut placer les planètes à une date donnée en longitude et en latitude”
[9b] On the box, each one of these is referred to as “Le Sensitif (Maisons Astrologiques) Pour la Latitude Donnée”. They are designed to be mounted on the plinth beneath the rotatable clear solid plastic wheel
[10] The first edition is dated to 1993
[11] Not found in CCFr. Presumed early-mid 1960s or possibly late 1950s
[12] A series of publications collectively edited by Joanne Esner. The books in this series have erratically printed pagination, with many unnumbered pages at the end of chapters and where illustrations are present. The range of pages between the earliest printed and the latest printed numbered page has been shown, but there are many between that have no page number printed, and I have not attempted to show these details
[13] “Avec la participation technique de Robert Malzac”
[14] A series of publications collectively edited by Joanne Esner, of which this is described as the fourteenth. The printing date of this copy matches the copyright date; and library records support it being the first printing, although considerably later than the main twelve volumes in the series. The present volume contains many unnumbered pages at the end of chapters and where illustrations are present. The range of pages between the earliest printed and the latest printed numbered page of the main part of the book has been shown, but there are many between that have no page number printed, and I have not attempted to show these details
[15] The date of this printing, which features a revised cover design. The original is copyrighted 1982
[16] Specifically, for the ‘Actes du Colloque’ series of publications that were published by Nicola’s C.O.M.A.C. imprint but not credited to him or anyone else as editor
[16a] No surname is given in the book, but this copy has fortunately retained his professional business card from which an American researcher could conceivably trace his full name. The card dubs him ‘Sri Nicolas – Astrological Preceptor of the New Age’ and gives his address as ‘9891 Richard Road, Live Oak, Cal.’ 95953
[16b] This appears to be signed by a Pat or Nat Walker, who indicates that she had left this copy in a shop to see if the shopkeeper was interested in it. Perhaps she was trying to help the author market it in local bookshops
[17] A retyped edition, with extensive modern scholarly notes in Italian, of a Latin text said to have been penned in 1330, whose full title, as reproduced, is given as “Compendium Medicinalis Astrologie a Frate Nicolao de Paganica Predicatorum Ordinis Compilatum a.MCCCXXX”
